Studio: T'ai Chi

What is T'ai Chi?

T’ai Chi is a gentle form of exercise, which is performed in a series of slow graceful meditative movements. It helps to strengthen the body whilst relaxing and focussing the mind. An ancient Chinese martial art, it is widely reputed to provide numerous benefits. These include development of good posture, balance and co-ordination; increased stamina, flexibility and strength; combating stress and encouraging techniques to deal with stressful situations; improved breathing and clarity of mind; instils relaxation, improved sleep patterns and promotes a general sense of wellbeing. It also helps older people to build and maintain strength and minimises trips and falls.

Who can practice T’ai Chi?

T’ai Chi can be practised by young and old alike. Students are always encouraged to work within their own limitations.
